Sebastian Schneider at GesMINT-Kick-Off
On August 18, 2022, a kick-off event for the conception phase of the BMBF project GesMINT, organized by IGaD, took place in the guest house of RWTH. Following the presentation of the GesMINT project leader, Dr. Ralitsa Petrova-Stoyanov, an overview of the gender-sensitive research position of RWTH in collaboration with a variety of RWTH partner organizations interested in gender-sensitive research was presented. Among others, the short presentations by Prorector Prof. Dr. Ute Habel and Sebastian Schneider, Bridging Professorship Gender and Diversity in Engineering (representing Univ.-Prof. Dr. Carmen Leicht Scholten), provided profound insights into the successful integration of the gender dimension into research design.
Afterwards, interdisciplinary teams discussed the question of what is to be understood by gender-oriented research, what challenges are associated with the transfer of research results to other fields, and how this could be supported in the future. The results obtained from the scientific exchange will now be processed in a structured manner and then serve as a basis for further structural measures, such as pilot workshops.
