WiST II Survey

 

RWTH Aachen is participating in the WiST II Survey funded by the European Commission Framework Programme 6. The survey is part of the international research project WiST II Survey which focuses on international companies and renowned universities in Europe. The research project is coordinated by Sara Connolly from the University of East Anglia and Stefan Fuchs of the Institute for labour and labour market research. The Integration Team is responsible for the successful realisation of the programme at RWTH Aachen.

Career paths of scientists in natural and engineering sciences are the main focus of the project. The survey analyses different aspects of scientific career paths, for example work contents and schedules, networks and funding structures, as well as career breaks. Furthermore participants will be asked for a subjective perception of their career paths, experiences and attitudes. The main objective of the survey is to generate valid statistical data and to determine indicators for a successful career in science. On the basis of the results analysis existing measures for the promotion of women in natural sciences and technology can be supported by new knowledge and insights.
