“17 goals – 1 mission. Separate but still together” was the motto under which young people from all over Germany met digitally to work on exciting projects in the context of the “Festival der Taten” from August 28 to 30. In a very short timeframe, they developed socially innovative ideas and projects on the topics of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals with impressive results.

How can we create green spaces with positive social and urban climate impacts in cities? How can we design a neighborhood market that invites people to linger and thus promotes local producers? How can algorithms help us to make fairer personnel decisions? This is just a small insight into the range of challenges and the creativity required to find solutions that characterizes the projects of the Festival der Taten Digital 2.0. In just a few days, the young participants developed creative and innovative solutions to these diverse questions with the highest motivation, drive and fun. They were encouraged by video greetings from the Rector of the RWTH Aachen University, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Rüdiger, and the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Dr. Maria Flachsbarth.

The team of the Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) Hub looks back on a great cooperation with the 17Ziele Team from Engagement Global and thanks all participants as well as the involved local actors from the Aachen area who, together with the RRI Hub, posed the challenges.

To present their projects, the participants created illustrative videos that can be viewed on the YouTube-Channel of 17Ziele (German only).
