Sustainable Development Goals: “Leonardo” module in winter semester 2020/21

 

In the winter semester 2020/21, the recurring “Leonardo” module “Sustainable Development Goals” will take place. The module will be accompanied and supervised by Professor Carmen Leicht-Scholten (Research Group Gender and Diversity in Engineering) and Professor Oliver Lorz (Research Unit International Economics).

 

Content and Learning Goals: Sustainable Development

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals reflect the interrelated ecological, social and economic aspects of sustainable global development. They are at the centre of the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development and illustrate the interrelationships between the goals under the five core messages “people, prosperity, planet, partnership and peace (5Ps)”.

In this module, students will learn about the SDGs and their role as political goals and guiding principles in a global context. Furthermore, they will be able to evaluate questions from their respective fields of study under the paradigm of sustainability. They can identify how the work in their fields of study contributes to solving the problems identified in the SDGs.

Project “Leonardo”

In the “Leonardo” project, students beyond the boundaries of the faculties get to know the various ways of thinking and approaches of different disciplines through joint interdisciplinary work. “Leonardo” modules are principally aimed at students of all faculties and focus on social challenges from an interdisciplinary perspective. In addition to proof of active participation, students can submit protocols or homework and receive up to 4 credit points.
