Responsibilities
Sebastian is a Research Associate and Ph.D. candidate at the Research Group Gender and Diversity in Engineering (GDE), where his work mainly contributes to the conceptional framework of the gender perspective in the DFG-funded Cluster of Excellence "Internet of Production". Furthermore, he contributes his perspective and insights to other DFG-funded projects on a national level, such as the "Cluster of Excellence "Fuel Science Center - FSC", SFB TRR 188 - "Subproject Equal Opportunities", as well as "SFB 1394 - Structural and Chemical Complexity" but also on an international level within the ENHANCE Alliance.
His Ph.D. project deals with gendered experiences within the so-called engineering culture through an interdisciplinary perspective of Experimental Philosophy, which synthesizes methods from Social Psychology and Social Science with Ethics. Through his work, he contributes to an inclusive and equitable development of engineering.
His research interests include Ethics (especially Discourse Ethics, Feminist Ethics, Climate Ethics and Animal Ethics), Social and Environmental Justice, Philosophy of Language (especially Ludwig Wittgenstein), Philosophy of Culture, Critical Theory (especially Theodor W. Adorno and Jürgen Habermas), Social Psychology (especially Dehumanization) and Sustainable Development from a philosophical perspective.
Career
Sebastian studied Philosophy and German Literary and Linguistic Studies at RWTH Aachen University and Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. He is a research associate and Ph.D. student at the GDI, where his dissertation project is located within the Cluster of Excellence, funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation) and supervised by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Carmen Leicht-Scholten and apl. Prof. Dr. Kellerwessel at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the RWTH Aachen.
