Responsibilities

Ann-Kristin Winkens has been a Research Associate at GDI since 2018. Her research interests are in particular in the areas of systems' resilience, sustainability, engineering education and competence training in engineering. As part of her PhD she is investigating the extent to which resilience-related competencies for designing resilient systems, such as dealing with uncertainty, complexity, adaptability, or systems thinking, are considered and addressed in engineering education.

She is the representative for the quality improvement of teaching and thus takes care of the continuous design of digital and competence-oriented teaching. Together with Frauke Kordtomeikel, she has been running the mentoring seminar "Fit for the Bachelor Thesis" since 2022.

Career

Ann-Kristin Winkens studied Environmental Engineering at RWTH Aachen University and at the conclusion of her studies began working at GDI. She was also managing director of the interdisciplinary project "Leonardo" at RWTH from 2018 until 2022 and is now pursuing a second Master's degree in Economics at RWTH.
