Institute internship "Engineer Meets User"

The course offers insights into independent scientific work by providing a theoretical overview of the social science research process, developing a research design that fits the research question, and completing it with subsequent implementation and evaluation. The course creates a basis for high-quality education and the examination and elaboration of scientific questions.

(Research) Projects

BIOS – Cooperative Course in Civil Engineering with Orientation Semester

In the cooperative study programme with the FH Aachen, an inclusive, equitable and high-quality education is promoted and enables especially first generation students to get a better (university) orientation. Furthermore, courses on socially responsible technology development are anchored in the curriculum. An additional eighth semester offers students at RWTH Aachen University the opportunity to gain experience abroad and practical experience and extra-curricular skills shortly before graduation.

Education is a central task of universities. Within this framework, all learners should acquire the necessary knowledge and qualifications to promote sustainable development. The development of key competencies for sustainable development should enable students to shape sustainable development.

The cooperative nature of the project allows the specific local needs to be jointly addressed in line with requirements. Thus, the implementation of a gender and diversity focal point can directly contribute to a more inclusive and integrative higher education, teaching and learning environment. Through the identification and targeted elimination of gender-specific inequalities and discrimination, the participation of women within universities is actively strengthened.

MOOC "Responsible Innovators of Tomorrow"

The MOOC "Responsible Innovators of Tomorrow" addresses SDGs 4, 10, and 17, preparing students to take on social responsibility in their future careers by addressing topics such as gender and diversity, RRI, and the SDGs, among others.

Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) Hub

The activities within the RRI Hub promote a socially responsible and sustainable orientation of research, innovation and teaching. In the spirit of an open innovation ecosystem, a cooperation between science and civil society is facilitated, e.g. by providing the local urban society and students with living lab spaces to meet and experiment.
