Univ.-Prof. Dr. phil. Carmen Leicht-Scholten on the Significance of Gender and Diversity Perspectives in Energy Research
Research in the realms of Gender and Science and Technology Studies has illuminated the profound interconnections and interplay between technology development, innovation processes, and society, as well as the detrimental consequences that ensue when these aspects are inadequately considered. Furthermore, these investigations have shed light on the substantial potential that arises when Gender and Diversity perspectives are integrated into research and innovation processes, with a focus on enhancing excellence, creativity, and economic opportunities.
University Professor Dr. phil. Carmen Leicht-Scholten will delve into this potential more comprehensively during the workshop titled "Gender and diversity responsive research and innovation – hype or imperative for sustainable technologies in the energy sector?" She will emphasize the importance of reevaluating established gender norms, stereotypes, standards, and reference models. These deliberations aim to facilitate a better consideration of the diverse needs of users, advance diversity in the energy sector, and elevate the societal significance of knowledge, technologies, and innovations generated in the energy domain.
The workshop, taking place as part of the DGMK event / She Drives Energy – Network of Women in Energy Technology on October 11, 2023, in Hannover, and is designed to bring together experts and stakeholders from various fields. It provides a platform for interdisciplinary exchange and the development of innovative solutions in this crucial domain.
